Edward Paul Chaffin

Edward Paul Chaffin, fondly known as "Papa Ed", passed away peacefully on December 22, 2020 at home. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, JoEllen Taliancich Chaffin, his two daughters – Shannon Troxler (Patrick) and Shelley Plake (Kenneth), three grandchildren – Dylan, Kylee and Ryan and his two brothers – Gayle Patrick Chaffin and James William Chaffin. Edward was born in Belfast, Ireland to his parents; the late Helen O'Driscoll Chaffin and the late Gayle Adrian Chaffin. Edward and his family came to the United States when he was two years old to return to his father's hometown of New Orleans after the war was over. Edward was loved by many and will be dearly missed. He was nothing short of an amazing husband, dad, Papa Ed and all around a great man. He was a religious man who could often be found singing his favorite song Amazing Grace, even if it wasn't the song playing. He always had the best sense of humor and could make you laugh and smile even in the toughest of times. Papa Ed was the one that you could call of for anything and he would be there with helping hands. His generosity and self-sacrificing nature will truly be missed by his family and friends. Relatives and close friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Friday, January 8, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd, Metairie, LA 70006. A memorial gathering will begin at 11 a.m. until service time. Do to the current circumstance surrounding the pandemic, masks will be required when attending the service.
