Eric Cryer Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Eric Joseph Cryer announces his passing on Tuesday, August 15, 2023. He was born in Abita Springs, LA on December 11, 1948. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Olinia Carr Cryer; his son, Kirk Cryer; his daughter, Kimberly Cryer Butcher (Phillip); his grandchildren, Elijah Butcher and Micah Butcher. He is also survived by his siblings, Elaine Pichon, Iris Reviere, Beverly Heisser, Gail (Alvarez) Labostrie and Phyllis (Gerard) Marquez and nieces, nephews, cousins, and wonderful lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Mildred Capla Cryer and Joseph Cryer and siblings Joyce Laurant and Jeanette Cousin. Eric honorably served his country as a U.S. Navy Vietnam veteran on the USS Warrington. After serving his country for four years, Eric returned to Abita Springs, LA. In 1972, he married the love of his life, Olinia. Both Eric and Olinia expanded their family with the births of Kirk and Kimberly. Eric was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather (Paw Paw). He loved his family, friends and his Saints football dearly. Eric loved fishing, fast drag cars, and playing jokes on unsuspected friends and family. No one that ever met Eric could forget his magnetic presence and hearty laugh. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Cryer may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington LA 70433 on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation on Tuesday beginning at 9:00 a.m. Interment in the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery will be at a later date. E.J. Fielding Funeral Home has been entrusted with funeral arrangements. The Cryer family invites you to share thoughts, fondest memories, and condolences online at E. J.
