Gregory Halitov Obituary

HALITOV Gregory D. Halitov died on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at Tulane Hospital in New Orleans after a long illness. The funeral was held in West Palm Beach and interment at the South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, Florida on Friday May 8, 2009. Gregory was 62 years old. Born in Rumania, Gregory and his family migrated to North America as political refugees from Communism in the 50's. Despite the language barrier and initial poverty, Gregory overcame the odds, always believing that America was the country where hard work would let one realize his dreams. Gregory served in the armed forces in Vietnam, was wounded and received the Purple Heart medal. After returning from the War, he moved to Florida and took a job with Paver Systems, Lake Worth, FL as electrician/handyman. Through hard work and loyalty, Gregory climbed the corporate ladder to the position of President/CEO of Paver Systems and took the company to a position of leadership in the Southeastern USA. Gregory was a member of the board of directors at the National Concrete Masonry Association and one of the founding members of both the Concrete Paver Institute and the Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute. Gregory was also an active member of the UNI Group and the SF Group. During the mid-90's Gregory, together with his wife Susanne Drygalla, relocated to New Orleans and founded Castle Rock Pavers. With Susanne ever by his side, they built Castle Rock Pavers into a major hardscape installation contracting company serving South Central USA. In 2008, Gregory retired from the company due to declining health. Gregory is survived by Susanne and his beloved daughter Rachelle, along with family and a multitude of friends, neighbors, employees past and present, and numerous business friends throughout the USA, Canada, and Europe. Although Gregory was not a member of the congregation at Rayne Memorial Church, Pastor Carol Winn Crawford has been so kind as to help arrange a Memorial Service in Gregory's honor on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the church. Rayne Memorial Church was one of the last jobs completed prior to Gregory's retirement. Rachelle and Susanne wish to thank everyone for your wonderful support during this difficult time.
