Marcelle Dessommes Saussy "Cici" Sjostrom

1963 - 2023

Marcelle 'Cici' Dessommes Saussy Sjostrom passed away June 4, 2023, at her home. She was born at Touro hospital in New Orleans on September 10, 1963. Cici attended Benjamin Franklin High School, NOCCA, and Dominican College – finishing high school in three years. She received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Southern California, a Masters in Social Work from Antioch University, and a doctorate in Psychology from Pacifica Institute. She lived in Los Angeles for many years. She enjoyed doing stand-up comedy that showed off her clever sense of humor and was part of the all-female comedy troupe Gal-O-Rama. She also had a successful career as a Madonna impersonator that took her around the world and included appearances on television shows including Martin and Family Feud. After her post graduate studies, she moved into social work for several years. Cici was an exceptional artist, sculptor, and painter whose favorite subjects were Mardi Gras and New Orleans landscapes. She was a striking beauty who loved coffee, reading biographies, watching True Crime, celebrity gossip, giving a makeover, and had a beauty tip for everything. Cici loved to shop and she loved a bargain. She adored family and friends and, most of all, her daughter. Cici is survived by her daughter and greatest joy, Heather Sjostrom; her mother, Marcelle d'Aquin Saussy; her sister, Virginia Saussy; her brother Gordon Saussy (Pam); her nephew, Parker Saussy; and loving aunts and cousins. She is also survived by her loyal chihuahua, Taco. She is preceded in death by her father, John Parker Saussy. Donations may be made to Bridge House/Grace House or Zeus' Rescues. Family and Friends are invited to attend visitation on Friday, June 9, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. until Prayer Service at 10:00 a.m. at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St., New Orleans, La 70119.
