Mark Bernard Ganier

Mark Bernard Ganier, 82, of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on January 17, 2018 at 6:05 a.m. after a valiant fight against Alzheimer's. Born and raised in Davant, Louisiana, Mark left Davant as a young man to play professional baseball as a pitcher in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization. After his baseball career ended, he moved to Chicago where he worked as a carpenter until the promise of year-round sunshine called him to southern California. There, he built the home where he and his family resided until he retired and moved to Las Vegas. In Las Vegas, Mark built his second home from the ground up, residing there until Louisiana called him back home, where he lived until he passed on. Mark is survived by his wife, Florence (DeRouen) Ganier, his children, Suzanne (Timothy) O'Shea, Jacqueline Ganier, David (Lorrie) DeRouen, and John (Irene) DeRouen, his grandchildren, Alexandra Don de'Ville, Corey DeRouen, James Holding, Valarie Crystle, Matthew Holding, Jessica Rose, Jennifer DeRouen, Jonathan DeRouen, and Jamie DeRouen and countless friends he accumulated during his travels. Services will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2018 with visitation starting at 9:30 am, Rosary at 10:15 am, Eulogy at 10:30 am and Mass at 11:00 am at St. Genevieve Church, 58031 St. Genevieve, Ln Slidell, LA.
