Michele Beauchamp Obituary

On August 22, 2023, Michele Duceung Beauchamp died peacefully at home surrounded by the love of her family. Born on January 29, 1953, Michele was preceded in death by her parents, John Frank Duceung and Marcelle Bellegarde Duceung. She is survived by her adoring husband of nearly 50 years, John Patrick Beauchamp, her son, Robert Vance Beauchamp and his wife, Allie King Beauchamp, their identical twin sons, Andrew Ryder and John Bodhi Beauchamp, her sister, Denise Duceung Chopin and brother-in-law, Dick Chopin, brother and sister in-law, Brian and Margaret Beauchamp, and her nieces and nephews: Keegan Chopin, Emily Chopin Naquin (Michael), Justin Chopin (Lindsey), Michael Kelley Beauchamp (Sudina), Elizabeth Beauchamp Brown (Brett) and Alexander Beauchamp (Annie). A graduate of Garden District Academy and Loyola University, Michele pledged the TriPhi sorority and majored in medical technology. She worked as a medical technician at Ochsner for 10 years before becoming a mother. A devoted soccer mom, Michele and her husband, Pat, never missed one of their son's games traveling around the southeast to all of his tournaments. As a parent, Michele was actively involved at her son's schools, St. Martin's and Newman. For over 20 years, she was a teacher at and, later, the director of St. Martin's Episcopal Church's Little School on Metairie Road. A devout Catholic, Michele was a lifelong parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Church and for decades she attended weekly, late-night Eucharistic adoration. A self-described caretaker, Michele nurtured everyone in her life: her family, her friends, and especially her young students. Lovingly called "Miss Shell" by over a generation of toddlers, she reveled in their hugs, their stories, their wonder and enthusiasm. In recent years, Michele enjoyed spending time in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida at her beach home, Belle Mere, with her family. Her greatest joy, however, was the role of "Mopsy" to her beloved grandsons. Michele delighted in every milestone they achieved and loved nothing more than spending time with them, marveling at their unique personalities, and spoiling them rotten with her unconditional love. The Beauchamp family would like to extend its gratitude to Fr. Joe Palermo for his spiritual guidance, Michele's coterie of cherished friends whose visits and meals sustained her and her family, and Denise Simoneaux for her gentle care. Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Francis Xavier Church on Metairie Road with a Mass following immediately thereafter. Interment will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Grace House. To view and sign the family guestbook, visit lakelawnmetairie.com.
