Patricia Caffery Obituary

CAFFERY Patricia Gibbens Caffery passed away on Monday, December 7, 2015 at the age of 91. Patricia was born September 27, 1924 in New Orleans to William Joseph Gibbens and Floreida Batson. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Murphy Caffery, Jr. and her son, Alexander Frere. She is survived by William Jay, (Colleen), Robert Batson, Patricia Smith (Frederick), Hugh Frere (Tonya), Mary Barnes (Chris), and Lydia Murphy. She was the proud grandmother of 21 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Patricia graduated from Louise S. McGehee school in 1942 where she served as Student Body President. Her college career included Sophie Newcomb College, University of Colorado Boulder and Berkeley. She married her soulmate in 1945 and gave birth to their seventh child just as her "Dream House" was finally built at 9 Mile Point. She was an early fan of Adele Davis, CJ Jung and Malcolm Muggeridge, among many others. She was always most comfortable with a book in her hand and classical music on her stereo. Her easy charm and warm disposition defined her as a true Southern Belle. Those who were fortunate enough to know her will always miss her. Relatives and friends are invited to attend memorial services on Friday, December 11, 2015 at 2:30 at Trinity Episcopal Church Chapel, 1329 Jackson Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70130. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Christwood Retirement Community, 100 Christwood Blvd, Covington, LA 70433. E.J. Fielding Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Dearest Cafferys - Patsy was such a dear sweet lady. My fondest memories were in your kitchen with Patsy teaching me about eating natural foods! Loved her so much! Thoughts & prayers are with you all.
