Patricia Eukel Obituary

Our "Yiddish" gypsy, volunteer nurse, Telegram operator, homemaker, children's story writer, teller, artist, Christening gown seamstress, box sorter, egg and toast burner, and generous loving mother has given up her sweet procrastinating nature to be with Yeshua and be reunited with loved ones passed before her. Surrounded by love and peace at home at the age of 88, with dignity and grace, Patricia has departed from these "ole bones" on November 5, 2016 in Metairie, Louisiana. "Faye" "Patty" was born in the land of "fruits and nuts", San Francisco, CA. on July 6, 1928 to Edgar Reece Page and Sylvia Eulalia Saunders Page and raised by her loving step father, Hazen Noyes and her mother. She had fond memories growing up in California playing with Shirley Temple and Jane Wyman, graduating from Hollywood High School and attending Saint Angelus Temple. On January 1, 1947, only dating for 2 – 3 weeks, she married the "charmer", a Minnesota farm boy turned U.S. Army helicopter pilot, Captain (Ret.) Donald D. Eukel Sr. in Denver, CO, a union of over 51 years. Being a military wife over 23 ½ years gave birth to 6 children while traveling to many states and Germany, finally settling in New Orleans in 1967 and giving birth to her last bonus and lagniappe seventh child as a civilian wife and mother in her 40's in 1968. Her commitment of faith in Yeshua helped her overcome the many adversities in her remaining 48 years of life adventures. The loss of loved ones, her homestead during Katrina and health issues, she was still able to travel to Israel and many states to see her grandchildren, great grandchildren, sons, daughters and their spouses, filling their homes with peace, love and joy; returning to Metairie, LA to live her remaining years and finally adopting New Orleans food and culture. She is preceded in death by her husband, Capt. (Ret.) Donald D. Eukel Sr. (1999) David Dean Eukel (Vietnam l968), Infant Dwight E. Eukel (1953), Dwayne Don Eukel (2015) and step brother Theodore "Richard" Noyes. She is survived by her brother Ted Noyes of Washington and sister Betty Noyes Burns of Arkansas. She leaves a living legacy of four children, Fred J. Eukel of Missouri, Dawna Beth Eukel-Nutter of Tulsa, OK, Dereesa F. Eukel Postlethwait of Kenner, LA, Donald D. Eukel Jr. (Tonya) of Metairie, LA; 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. A special heartfelt thank you to her nurses Cozette Dunham and Cynthia Hayes of LHC Hospice for their great care and genuine compassion, both physically and spiritually. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at 6:30 PM from the Metairie home of THARP-SONTHEIMER-THARP, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd. at 43rd Street, with visitation beginning at 5:30 PM. Rabbi David Schiff will officiate. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 12, 2016 in Golden Gate National Cemetery, San Francisco, CA. Condolences may be expressed online at www.tharpsontheimerfh.com.
