Richie and I started on opposite sides--he was with NOPD Homicide, I was defending capital cases with the public defender's office. I knew cross-examining him could be fun, and he knew sparring with me could be every bit as much fun, as he truly believed in what he was doing. Over the years, especially after he left NOPD, we grew close. I appreciated our banter every day when I entered the Hale Boggs Building--a friend was a good thing to have there, because normally courthouses are not fun or friendly places. I will miss him and our chats. Dwight Doskey

So sad to hear of Mr. Richard's passing. Even after I left Hale Boggs, anytime I returned he always had a smile and made sure to ask how we were doing. His presence will be missed. Sending condolences to the family.

"Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.
From an Irish headstone"

As a court reporter in federal court, it was always a pleasure to see Richard's smiling face upon entering the courthouse or during a trial. Richard was a wonderful person to work with, and all the court reporters were so very sad to learn of his passing. God bless you, Richard. We were honored to have known you. We will miss you.

I want to extend my sincere prayers to Mary, children and grandchildren. I knew Richie from childhood and on the NOPD. He was always a good natured person and friend. May he rest in peace.
