Please accept our belated but dearest sympathy over the loss of our longtime neighbor and friend, Ruby. Her family was one of the pillars of our Lower Nine neighborhood. Ruby, along with her brother, Dr. Edward Caliste, were also UNO collegues.
We will miss her but will be cherised by her memories.

To The Caliste Family: May God give each of you strength and comfort. Growing up on Caffin Avenue with so many caring neighbors mean so much to us. We were so Bless to know Ms. Ruby, and with her stern direction that kept us on the right path. She would always stress education. It does take a village to instill productive lives.

" Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints."
Psalm 116:15
Dear Family, as you mourn Sis. Sumler's absence, be encouraged, because God loves you and as He was with her, He is also with you. The memories of precious moments you shared with her will one day replace your tears with smiles and cause your hearts to rejoice.

To: Sis. Sumler's Family
I send my sincerest condolences, prayers and love to each of you. Ms. Ruby is now resting in the Arms of Jesus, The Christ, and "Perfectly Healed." Growing up in the Lower 9th Ward, I recall her tireless and dedicated efforts for "civil and social" justice for my area, our city and nation. May the work you've done never be forgotten. I, along with many others, "Salute" you.
