Ruthie May Tillman

Ruthie May Tillman entered eternal rest on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at the age of 84. She was a native of Franklin, LA and resident of New Orleans (Algiers), LA. Ruthie graduated from Willow Street High School. "Granny", as she was affectionately called by family and friends, retired from Magnolia School and ResCare Respite services. Devoted wife of the late George Tillman, Sr. Loving mother of Leisha Ann Gasper, Bernard (Sandy) Tillman Sr., Brian Tillman, and Herman Duncan. Stepmother of the late George Tillman Jr, Minerva Tillman and Charlotte Tillman, Bonus mother of Kevin Crayton, and the late Sharon Jolla. Grandmother of Keioka (Micheal) Washington, Keion Gasper (Jamaar), Keischelle Rhone, Joseph Major (Bianca), Benea Spurlock, Benisha Spurlock, Bershada Spurlock, Bernard Tillman Jr, Brian Smith, Brianne Tillman, Brandon Tillman, and Santina Jones, and the late Makayla Amarie Washington. Great grandmother of Jamaar Jones, Jr, Ke'myri Jones, Ja'dyn Jones, Najja'e (King) Gregory, Niasia Merritt, Larren Dents, London Dents, Berlyn Tillman, Bailei Major, Jouri Major, Zaidan Berry, and Rori Ray Jones. Daughter of the late Herman Burrell Sr, and Elizabeth Burrell. Sister of Ethel Smith, Marion Burrell and the late Herman Burrell, Jr. (Katherine), Charles Burrell, (Florence), John D. Burrell, Calvin Burrell, (Doreen) Ruby Duncan (Clyde), and Beulah Thomas. Sister-in-law of the late Alva Mae Burrell, and John Thomas. Godmother of Rosa B. (Harold) House, also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other, relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Davis Mortuary Service, 6820 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, LA on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. until service time at the above-named parlor.
