Wilmer Rayes Obituary

RAYES Wilmer John Rayes sailed into Heaven on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at his residence at the age of 82. He was a native of New Orleans and longtime resident of Kenner and St. Rose. He served in the Merchant Marines during WW II and in the U. S. Army from 1950 until 1952. He was a former member of Lions Club in Kenner, a former director of the Federal Housing Authority of Kenner and former member of the Kenner Business Men's Association. He retired from Service Cab Co. S-73. Beloved father of Stanley "Inky" J. Rayes, Carol R. Spadoni and Pauline Rayes-Prados. Father-in-law of Michele Golden Rayes, Tucky Spadoni and Stephen Prados. Grandfather of Glenn Buckel Jr., Jessica and Claire Rayes, Luke, Jill, and Eva Marie Prados and Holly Spadoni. He is also survived by his former wife, Constance Fontaine Rayes. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Felice Maysonnave Rayes; 9 brothers; 2 sisters; and niece, Marian "Mickie" Walker. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service in the Chapel of the Kenner Funeral Home of L. A. Muhleisen and Son, 2607 Williams Blvd., on Friday, January 15, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m.

Bro. Willie was the one in our church that kept us all laughing with his humor. He spread cheer and laughter where ever he went, and that's a great attribute to have.
