Alfred Fiume Obituary



FIUME
Dr. Alfred "Fred," DMD, 53, a resident of Rutherford passed away suddenly on Wednesday July 29th, 2015.
He was born in Jersey City to the late Alfred and Ann (nee Pellegrino) Fiume.
Fred was a 1984 graduate of St. Peters College in Jersey City. He also graduated from The University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ in 1988.
He was a past member of the American Dental Association and a current Board member of the NJ Academy of General Dentistry.
Fred proudly entered the United States Army in 1988 and served in Iraq Operation Freedom, when completing his service he achieved rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was employed by Correctional Dental Associates working in the NJ State Home for Boys and he was an Associate at Gentle Dental in Lyndhurst.
He was an active P.E.R. of the Rutherford Elks Lodge #547 for 18 years, a member of Unico in Lyndhurst for 20 years, and served on the Rutherford Board of Education from 2006 to 2012.
Fred was a loving Dad, always involved in his children's activities, a man who was devoted to his wife and his family.
Fred was a loving husband to Joanne (nee Mastrolia), a dear father to Alyssa, Anthony, Andrew and Alex. A devoted son-in-law to MaryAnn and Nicholas Mastrolia. He is survived by his brothers Mark and wife Janet, Rocco Fiume, his sister Ann Marie Fiume, his brother-in-law Peter, Nicholas and wife Michele along with nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held on Monday 10 AM from The Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford, for 11 AM Mass of Christian Liturgy in The Church of Saint Mary, Rutherford. Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, No. Arlington. Family will receive friends Sunday 4-8 PM.

TO THE FIUME FAMILY, AGAIN MY DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON YOUR LOSS OF YOUR BELOVED AL. YOUR DAD AND HUSBAND AL AND I WERE VERY GOOD FRIENDS IN THE ARMY MEDICAL COMMAND. my heartfelt condolences to the entire fiume family. I first met al in 1997 when I joined the medical unit at sea girt n.j. we both became instant friend's due to the fact we were both Italian and would call each other pisan. he had a great sense of humor and we were always playing joke's on each other . he alway's talked about how much he loved his family. I am truly sorry for the loss of your husband and dad and my good friend. take comfort that we will see him again in heaven.
