Benny was an astonishing and charmingly unique man. We always enjoyed the pleasure of being in his presence, and we always craved his great cooking. We will miss him tremendously, and we will always think of him and smile. Some people are a glorious shooting star in life who bring light and warmth to others--this remains always Benny.

I will never forget when Benny brought Aunt Lil to Greenwich for my mother's funeral on a Sunday, his only day off. In general his kindness and thoughtfulness of others will always be a strong memory for me!
Best of all he has four amazing children who will make a difference in this world and that is what it's all about!

I had the pleasure to know Benny and his family a very long time. I don't know of a harder working man that truly loved his family. I would converse with Benny on many occasions and there was not a time that he did not say that all of his hard work was so that his kids and Jackie could have everything that they needed. We shared some great times traveling too, especially to motorcycle shows and I can honestly say that I felt most wanted around Benny when he was making fun of me, he made you feel wanted, God Bless this man, he truly had a huge heart.

I was sad to see that Benny had passed away. I'll never forget that when Liz was in my class, Benny showed up for back to school night. I was so surprised because I knew he was up at 2 AM to bake for the day. But he said that his daughter wanted him to meet Mr. B so he was there. That was the SOFT side that not everyone knew. I was fortunate to teach Liz,Marc, and Amy. Jeff I got to visit !

I always had hoped to get down to North Carolina to ride the Dragon's tail with Benny. I guess that will end up one of true regrets in my life. Benny was one of the people that could always make me smile.

Dad, I'm reminded of you every time I walk Tovi. You were my early morning phone buddy; walks aren't the same without you. I miss you so much. Thanks for the memories...never a dull moment with you--you were truly one of a kind and left your imprint wherever you went. That's all I know for sure when I look back on your life. I love you. RIP.

I worked across the street from Benny's luncheonette on Saddle River Road for a few years when I was the first ever full-time reporter at The Shopper. Everyone in my office knew when it was getting close to lunch time because I'd bolt out the door and run across the street to Benny's for a hamburger and fries. It was usually around 11 a.m. Benny always made me feel special, which I think was because I had gone to college (FDU) with his wife's best friend. I also enjoyed kibbitzing with George too, who seemed to have more time to exchange pleasantries than Benny did. I'm long gone from New Jersey, writing now for the Tampa Tribune, but I'll always remember Benny fondly during my good old days chasing after fire engines, police cars and the mayor in Fair Lawn, Saddle Brook and Elmwood Park...

I worked for Benny at my first job in H.S at the mere age of 14. I worked there for 3 years cleaning up after hours. We all remember him shouting into the back to the "grints" and making snide remarks as customers left the restaurant. That was Benny. You don't get any more real than that. I will never forget the best tuna sandwiches and the homemade iced tea! We will miss you Benny!

I remember Benny well as a GRHS "68 grad. He was in our senior prom group! I had many "greaser" friends and he was such a great guy to have as a friend! I left Glen Rock in 1972 when I got married but my memories of Benny are within my heart!

I was rather shocked to hear of Benny's passing. I will never forget those burgers and sandwiches. Last time I saw him was on the Food Network. I am sure he knows he will be missed by many and that his food satisfied more than a few hungry customers and garnered him praise and legions of fans.

I worked for Benny a a good few years in Fair Lawn and he was very important part of my working years. He may have appeared to be a little tough but always made time to pull you on the side to tell you his real thoughts or "help" you if he saw a mistake coming in your personal life.
As a kid i remember going with my father to their bakery, seeing benny and George and his parents always hard working and a smile.
Sending Angels to his parents and George and family...
RIP Benny....you were a bigger part of our lives than you may have thought.

Still in shock upon hearing the news. Growing up in Glen Rock and Prospect st where "the stores" and the Prospect bakery were, I knew the Erlics and hung around the bakery with George in the evening. I worked down the sidewalk at Joes Sweet Shop and the Erlichs are the finest people Glen Rock has to offer.
