Caroline Smith Obituary

SMITH Caroline J. (nee Popewczak), 69, of Garfield, NJ died Friday at Sunrise Assisted Living, Fairfield, NJ. Born in Passaic she had been a lifelong resident of Garfield. She had been employed as a secretary at Fairleigh Dickinson University, Teaneck, NJ in the facilities department for twenty eight years, more recent employment had been with St. Peter's R.C. Church, River Edge and at the office of Dr. Christian Raymond, Garfield, NJ. Mrs. Smith was a parishioner of St. Joseph's R.C. Church, Passaic where she was a Lector and Extraordinary Minister of The Eucharist, she also was past volunteer of Garfield Ambulance Corps. She is predeceased by her husband, James Smith, Jr. in 1980 and one son, James M. Smith in 1970. She is survived by one daughter, Victoria Kaminski and her husband, Robert of Little Falls, NJ; one sister, Frances Biviano and her husband, Chris of Lake Ariel, PA; and beloved Babci to Bobby and Jimmy. Funeral Services are 8:15 AM Wednesday from Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 515 Lexington Ave., Clifton and 9 AM from St. Joseph R.C. Church, Passaic. Interment East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton, NJ. Visiting hours Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Memorial Contributions may be made to Garfield Ambulance Corps, 413 Midland Avenue, Garfield, NJ 07026 or to Compassionate Care Hospice, 140 Littleton Road, Suite 200, Parsippany, NJ 07054. Mrs. Smith was a lecture in St. Joseph's church for many years. She would always do such a wonderful job! She had such a warm and caring way about her that made you feel like you were talking to a close friend. She will be missed.
