Debbie, Dorothy, Dave & family:

If I were asked what is a perfect "trio" I answered Aunt Ril, Neat and Helen". Aunt Ril had this soft graspy kind of voice, but dont kid yourself "she was "german".
I knew she was special when she told me the story of how she and uncle Dave took in two cuban children brother and sister in late 60's that came through a church without the parents. The children knew no english but Aunt Ril made it her mission to help them feel at home. They would not eat anything and say "arroz con pollo" (chicken and rice); well she looked up a recipe for chicken and rice; fried bananas and went out got everything and made them "arroz con pollo & fried bananas"! I knew then, what a great human being she was. Her Dave; kids; sisters; brother-in-laws; nieces; grandchildren were her life, and what a great life she gave us! You should be so very proud of her! We were blessed to be a part of Aunt Ril's journey. What a very sad week it has been with these tremendous losses. God bless the Quackenbushes/Dunns & Luxes

All I know it that I love her and that she love my best friend, Lorraine, her niece dearly, as she does all. She kept the spirit of Anita even closer to us, and I was always grateful for that. She would hug me and smile and she had a way of loving the best in you and I know she is hugging Rick now.

My blessings of love and light for heaven welcomes her and she is watching over all of us now in a different way. Donna Marinaro

To the whole Quackenbush part of our family:

I loved Aunt Ril, from the stubborn German to the loving Aunt. Every part of her was a charming combination of practicality and passion. My Rick loved her and all his Aunts and Uncles with his whole heart and that love of family was one of the reasons I knew that we had the common bond that make couples endure.
One of my fondest memories is the week Rick and I spent at a lake in Vermont with aunt Ril , uncle Dave and Anita . What fun we had. Special moments to hang onto during this time of unmeasurable sorrow we are sharing. I know they are all together now and I can hear aunt Ril saying "what in the world are you doing here Ricky ?"
And radio free Einhorst has something to buzz about in heaven.
My love to all
Gaile

I am so saddened to hear of Cyril's passing. I have lived next to the Quackenbush's nearly all of my life! Ackerson ave will not be the same again. Will never forget how nice Cyril and Dave were to me as a kid. She will be missed, but not forgotten!

Dear Debbie, Dorothy , David & family,
I can't tell you how devastated I am to hear of your mother's death. Growing up we were all so close, and your mother and father made sure, after I moved to North Carolina, that my mother had them for company. Aunt Helen also told me about Ricky and hearing of the two of them, my heart is broken. My health precludes me from making the trip to Wayne, but please be sure that you and the whole family are in my prayers and that I will offer my mass & communion Sunday for your mother.
Love, Aunt Betty Pruzinsky

To All the Quackenbush Clan,

we will all miss Aunt Ril terribly but are sure to hold on to the memories of our time with her and especially the Chadwick escapades with all of the cousins. She was truly one of a kind and along with Aunt Neat and my Mom were the closest set of sisters anywhere. Our deepest sympathies to all of you.

Love,
Bob , Elaine and family

I was so saddened to hear of the passing of Cyrilla. I was Debbie's boss at one time and came to know and love Sirita (I could never get her name straight) so I was allowed to call her that!
I hope over the years that I knew Sirita that I was able to bring some joy and laughter to her when we spoke or went out to lunch or dinner. We were supposed to go to the Lincoln Airport restaurant for BLT's when she got better. I will now go in her honor and memory.
I will always have a special place in my heart for Sirita and I know she is at peace now with Dave.
My sincere sympathies to her entire family. A truly outstanding and loving mother and friend.

To my Cousins,

Wow...I feel like I'm in a daze or a horrible nightmare with all of the tragedy that has occurred this week for all of us!!
I am truly grateful every single day for the outstanding family I have and for all of the love and support we have given each other and will continue to give each other forever. Aunt Ril adopted me as her "third daughter" after my Mom passed almost 4 years ago , and Rick as a second son who was always there for her when she needed painting etc., around the house.
I will miss her immensely, as we all will feel a gaping hole in our lives and in our hearts. Always the "tough German"...right to the very end.
I will miss not only my big brother, but my second mother. But I can already feel their presence guiding me to be strong, the same way they were. We will all get through this because of our strong families and faith that everything will work out and be ok.
Like all of us, I have so many wonderful memories to hold on to and will cherish always.
I love you all.

Dear My Childhood Neighbors,
I have nothing but fond memories of being the Quackenbush's neighbors. I babysat Cyril's cats and then later her grandchildren. I remember her opening her home to city children in the summer time, to let them experience how good life was on Ackerson Avenue. A true act Kindness and Humanity! Cyril was truly a nice person, I will miss her!
With Love and Sympathy,
Cindy

To my cousins,
What a tough week for all of us.You are not alone and I am thankful for this wonderful family that your mom and her sisters created. Unmatched to any other for sure.
I am so thankful that I was able to take my mom up to see Aunt Ril last week. She was having a great day and the two sisters laughed and complained as they always did. The visit ended with a huge hug and "I Love You's" all around. I will cherish that memory for a long time to come. It was a great reminder to not put off til tomorrow what I can do today.
I had an amazing childhood due to Aunt Ril and her sisters. I only wish more people could experience such a great upbringing. There might be a lot less pain in this world.
Christmas Eve at Aunt Ril's and Uncle Dave's was always special. We always had to have popcorn and for some reason, cousin David's name usually got picked last for opening presents. And the gag gifts that the parents would exchange.....hilarious. I remember one year Aunt Ril was given my blue book-bag from elementary school because she was going back to school. Ahhhhh such great memories.
She will be greatly missed but the memories will never fade. I love you all.

Dear Debbie, Dorothy and David-

I cannot fathom the pain of losing your mother just days after losing Rick.
This is truly a hard week for a great family that at one time in my life, WAS my second family. All those days and nights in Normandy Beach, all those family barbecues that I was privileged to share with all of you.
Those many contentious sails with two Captains and two different charted paths on the "Ril Neat" with Cap'n David and Cap'n Dick" OMG! I'll never forget the comedy or the fun!!!
Your mother was the most stalwart and serious of the three sisters. Cyrilla, and Anita and Helen. Or at least that's how I remember her. She WAS the oldest, and we first born (Hey Rick, Debbie...we KNOW...don't we?) Always have it hardest!
Anyway...as shocked as I was by Rick's sudden departure I think my heart got another sharp leap looking at the Obits on the site for Rick and finding your mother. My sincerest sympathy and by extension my condolences to Helen and the Lux family as well. I am fond of all of you.
