Thomas McTigue Obituary

McTIGUE Thomas A., of Westwood, NJ, formerly of Riverdale, NY died on November 21, 2007, after a long and courageous battle with Leukemia. He was 39 years old. Mr. McTigue is survived by his wife the former Stephanie Sheehan, his daughters; Kendall Agnes (2 years old) and Summer Mary (6 months old), his parents Thomas A. Sr. and Angela (nee Zwgale) McTigue and his brother and sister Terrence and Kerry McTigue. Mr. McTigue was an Associate Attorney with the Law Firm Huff Wilkes in Tarry-town. New York. His practice covered a range of real estate-oriented litigation matters, including property tax appeals, eminent domain, transaction-based litigation, and municipal applications and litigation. Mr. McTigue had an impressive military background, having graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York, where he majored in Business Management and Systems Engineering and was named to the Dean's List. Following graduation, Tom served at Fort Hood, Texas, as Platoon Leader/ Troop Executive Officer, where he led an attack helicopter platoon and served in the leadership of an Air Cava-lry Troop. Tom was a graduate of the U.S. Army's Helicopter Aviator Course and Aviation officer Basic Course, and was qualified in Cobra AH-1F Attack and UH-1 Helicopters. He received the U.S. Army Commendation Medal, Rotary Wing Aviator Badge, Parachutist and Air Assault Badge. Tom was a member of the New York State Bar Association, the West Point Society of New York, and the New York County Lawyers' Association. Tom was also active In the Irish American community and was a piper in the FDNY Emerald Society Pipe Ban. Visitation will be held on Sunday December 2, 2007 from 1-5 PM at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ. The family will gather with relatives and friends for a Funeral Mass on Monday December 3, 2007 at 9:30 AM at The Chapel of the Most Holy Trinity, United States Military Academy, West Point. Interment to follow with military honors at West Point Cemetery.
