Debra Ann Lefferts, loving daughter, mother, Nana, sister, aunt, friend, and caregiver to all who had the honor of knowing her passed away in her home in Maurertown on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at the age of 67. She was born in Brooklyn, New York on October 21, 1956.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Joan Debaun, brother, William Debaun, and her beloved son Ray Shields.

Surviving her is her loving and devoted husband of 46 years Nicholas Lefferts, her cherished granddaughter Madison Martz-Shields; son Adam (Bobbi) Lefferts, grandchildren Cole (Natalie) Johnston, Brittni (Chris) Crabill, Abby, AJ and Caleb Lefferts, great-grandchildren Marleigh Stead, Jack Crabill, Journi Crabill and Annabel Johnston.

Debbie loved her church and family. A God-fearing woman whose love of Jesus showed through in her devotion, prayers, and willingness to put others above herself. A woman of many talents from creating wedding cakes to family photographer to seamstress to caregiver. She was always willing to give of herself.

Debbie started her career by opening her home to the children of our community as a caregiver. She became employed by Valley Gospel Daycare, her love and dedication carried on when she took a position with Shenandoah County Public Schools in transportation working with the special needs for the past 10 years.

She was truly an angel on earth. Due to her knowledge of the love of Jesus, and her own personal struggles, she imparted wisdom and empathy, and guided others to follow the path of Christ.

She leaves the legacy of laughter and strength. She will forever be remembered for the peanut butter and coconut eggs she assisted the youth of valley Gospel Church make and sell each Easter.

Although she will be forever missed, her family takes comfort in knowing she is free of pain in the arms of her Savior. She was their rock and they will stand firm in her honor.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 2 from 11 to 1 at Valley Funeral Service in Bowman Crossing. Immediately followed by the Celebration of Life beginning at 1. Officiated by Pastor Larry Cook and Lanita Irvin. Burial will follow at Sunset View Cemetery in Woodstock.
