Wayne Henry Tisinger

1944 - 2012

Wayne Henry Tisinger, 68, of Woodstock, Virginia, passed away Sunday, October 7, 2012, along with his family in the peace and comfort of his own home after a battle with cancer.

Wayne was born in Woodstock April 4, 1944, to Clyde Henry and Virginia Hollar Tisinger. Raised by his parents, grandparents, and extended family, Wayne grew up on his family's farm near Wesley Chapel where he learned the value of hard work and developed his lifelong love of gardening, animals, hunting, and the outdoors.

Wayne graduated from Central High School in 1963. Following high school, he proudly served in the United States Army in the Vietnam War. After return from combat, he married Delores "Dee" Seal April 5, 1969, remaining happily married 43 years until his death.

Surviving in addition to his wife is his daughter, Amy Beth Tisinger, also of Woodstock, Virginia; a sister, Betty Lou Richman and her husband Robert "Bob" of Annandale, Virginia; mother-in-law, Shirley Seal of Woodstock; brother-in-law, Harold Seal, Jr. and wife Judy of Woodstock; brother-in-law, Robert "Bob" Seal and wife Linda of Chattanooga, Tennessee; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Extremely special to Wayne were his great nephews, Ashton Rogers and Bryce Rogers of Potomac Falls, Virginia who often spent summer weeks with him in Woodstock, as well as Teresa, Tyler, and Jillian Brunton of Edinburg, Virginia who brought many smiles to their "Uncle Wayne's" face. Wayne was also blessed with many friends, including his dear friends, Gary "Jake" Stoneburner and Ron Simmons. His most special dogs/four legged friends, Bandit and Truban were his most faithful companions who greeted him as heaven's gate.

Wayne was known as an extremely hard worker and faithful provider for his family. He worked for years at the Aileen textile factory in Edinburg and then for approximately 20 years until retirement at Lear automotive industry in Strasburg.

One of Wayne's proudest moments was the investiture of his daughter Amy in 2009 as the first female full-time judge of the 26th Judicial District General District Courts of Virginia.

From a young age, Wayne had a love for and sense of adventure. For those who knew him best, it was obvious that his lifelong passion was hunting and the love of firearms. Wayne went on many domestic and international hunting trips with wife and close friends that gave him countless hours of joy and great memories. Wayne also had a lifelong love of fast cars and hot rods.

Wayne was a Life member of the National Rifle Association (NRA), a Life member of Safari Club International, and a member of the Page Valley Sportsmanás Club. He was a member of the American Legion Post 199, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 2447, and a Life member of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 936.

Wayne was also a lifelong member of the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church and loved his church family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, c/o Danny Ritenour, Treasurer, 102 Dogwood Drive, Woodstock, Virginia 22664 on behalf of the kitchen renovation project.

Wayne will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Burial will be private. The family will later be planning a memorial celebration of Wayne's life for family and friends.
