Kathleen Schaer Obituary

Kathleen Ann Schaer
Born: June 3, 1944 in Chicago, IL
Died: February 22, 2025 in McHenry, IL
Kathleen Ann Schaer, a dazzling light of joy and selflessness, passed away on February 22, 2025, at her home in McHenry, IL. Born on June 3, 1944, in Chicago, IL, Kathleen's life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and dedication to her family.
A proud graduate of Grant High School in 1962, Kathleen's early life in Chicago set the stage for a lifetime of cherished relationships. Her career path led her to Chicago Cutlery in Wauconda, IL, where she was a valued employee for many years. Later, she brought her warmth and meticulous care to the role of a bank teller, where she was appreciated by colleagues and customers alike.
Kathleen's marriage to her loving husband, Dennis R. Schaer, was a testament to enduring love and partnership. Together, they raised a family that became Kathleen's pride and joy. She was the loving mother of Cynthia (the Late James) Sheppard, Gregory (Eileen) Schaer, Bradley (Shiela) Schaer, and Julie (Tommy) Hanus. Her spirit will live on through her cherished grandchildren, Nick (Jess) Schaer, James Sheppard, Stephanie (Jason) Mraz, Robyn (Joseph) Collins, Joseph (Kelly) Schaer, Ashley Schaer, Katrina Schaer, and Anthony Schaer, as well as her adored great-grandchildren, Raelynn and Savannah Collins, and Grace and Emmitt Schaer.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her devoted parents, Carlyle and Eleanor Mott, and her sister, Maureen. The values instilled in her by her family were evident in every aspect of her life and will continue to be a guiding light for those she has left behind.
An avid gardener, Kathleen found solace and joy tending to her flower garden. Her love for the outdoors extended to sunbathing, where she basked in the warmth of the sun's rays. Shopping was more than a pastime for Kathleen; it was an adventure, especially when it involved exploring new restaurants and indulging in the pleasure of good food and company.
Kathleen's wanderlust led her to travel, seeking out new experiences and making memories on vacations that would last a lifetime. Her passion for collecting angels reflected her nurturing spirit and showcased her everlasting tenderness.
Family celebrations were the highlight of Kathleen's life. She adored her family, and nothing brought her more happiness than being surrounded by her loved ones during festive occasions. Her laughter was infectious, and she had a unique ability to make others laugh, spreading cheer wherever she went.
Described by family and friends as loving, funny, and selfless, Kathleen's legacy is one of unwavering love and generosity. Her ability to celebrate life and the people in it was unmatched, and her pride in her family was as deep as it was vocal.
Kathleen's life was a lesson in giving, and those who knew her will remember her for the happiness she brought into their lives. Her laughter, her kindness, and her ability to love unconditionally will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
As we say goodbye to Kathleen Ann Schaer, we celebrate a life lived to the fullest, marked by an abundance of love and laughter. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.

Dennis and family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Kathy was always one of my favorites at the dental office. Even though I´m no longer in Illinois, I think of both of you fondly. I loved our conversations, especially when Kathy would encourage me to try gardening. Her warmth and kindness will always be remembered. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
