Mary Gladys Rueff, age 96, of Crystal Lake, Illinois passed away peacefully on Monday, July 7, 2025. Mary was born November 5, 1928 in Terrenceville, Newfoundland, Canada to John and Margaret Hickey. On February 11, 1951, she married Robert E. Rueff in St. Johns, Newfoundland, Canada. Mary worked in the cafeteria at West Elementary in Crystal Lake for District 47. She was a devoted member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Crystal Lake, as well as the Moose Lodge. Mary is survived by her children, Margaret Sattler, John (Joan) Rueff, Patricia Frederick, Patrick (Suzanne) Rueff, Jim (Sandra) Rueff; her 11 grandchildren; her 9 great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law Brenda Rueff; and many beloved extended family members and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her parents John & Margaret Hickey; her son, Jerry Rueff; and her siblings Sara Ann Fizzard, Patrick Hickey, Augustine Hickey, Mary Barger, & Jerry Hickey. A wake for Mary will be held Monday, July 14, 2025 from 4-7 PM at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 West Terra Cotta Ave, Crystal Lake, IL. A funeral mass will take place Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at 10 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 451 W Terra Cotta Ave, Crystal Lake, IL, followed by a burial at Crystal Lake Memorial Park Cemetery, 8012 Ridgefield Rd, Crystal Lake, IL. Memorials may be made to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.QuerhammerandFlagg.com for the Rueff family.

So sorry for the loss of Aunt Gladys! She was a very sweet lady. Always loved sending her cards to let her know we are thinking of her and loved talking to her on the phone! Sending our love to the Rueff family. May you hold her beautiful memories close to your heart!
