MICHAEL THOMAS BODECKER
Born: March 12, 1948 in Chicago, IL
Died: August 25, 2021 in Spring Grove, IL
Michael Thomas Bodecker passed away in his home in Spring Grove, Illinois on 08-25-2021 at age 73 of natural causes. He was born on March 12, 1948 in Chicago, Illinois, and was the son of Wurdell Bodecker and Bernice Mercatoris. He was preceded in death by his younger sister Margaret Kato. He was survived by his ex-wife Deanne Bodecker and by his two sons Tim Bodecker (Jen) and Dave Bodecker, a sister Mary Bodecker of Wonder Lake, Illinois, a sister Marcia Bailey of McCullom Lake, Illinois and 3 grandchildren; Emily, Nathan and Isabel.
He graduated in 1966 from Crystal Lake High School and then joined the Air Force for 4 years to become an aircraft mechanic. He worked at Eagle Foods in McHenry, Illinois as a stock clerk before reenlisting in the Air Force in 1974. He was assigned to Albuquerque, New Mexico for 2 years and then Fairfield, California for 2 years. He received an Honorable Discharge for each time served. He then joined the Air Reserve Technician Service (ARTS) in 1978 and worked at the General Billy Mitchell Field in Milwaukee, Wisconsin serving 30 years in service. He retired in 2005 as a Master Sergeant Grade (E7).
Michael was a member of the Veterans Administration and of the American Legion.
He will be missed by his family and his friends.
