Norman Daschner Obituary

Norman Daschner
Born: December 8, 1937
Died: December 28, 2024
Norman Lyle Daschner, age 87, of Marengo, IL passed away on Sat., Dec. 28, 2024. He was born on Dec. 8, 1937 to the late Lyle and Lanola Daschner. He married Barbara Dunnett on June 10, 1967. Norman is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara; his children Debbie Rooney and Wendy Daschner-Vega; his grandchildren Patrick (Emily) Daschner, Payton Lockhart, Brooke Kueking, and Olivia Rooney; his sister Delores (Tony) Jones; and his many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; his sisters Jeanette San Felipo and Joyce Cash; his brother Arleigh Daschner; and his father and mother in law James and Stella Dunnett. Norman worked at Arnold Engineering for over 40 years, achieving the title "Overtime King". He took pride in providing for his family, and impacted many close friends and co-workers. He was honest, loving, friendly and humble, but could surprise everyone he met with his sense of humor, quick wit and knowledge. As a family man, Norman had immense love for his wife and children, but a special love for his grandchildren. Together they would travel, fish, and he rarely missed any of their events. He was their biggest fan and loudest cheerleader. Second only to his grandkids sports was his love for the Packers. He was an avid fan and enjoyed collecting Packers gear. There was a special place in his heart over the years for his dogs, who he loved just as much as they loved him. He enjoyed the smaller things in life as well; he spent his free time wood working, tending to his horses in his younger days, gardening, enjoying nature and tinkering around on various projects. Norman will be forever missed by everyone lucky enough to know him. A Visitation will be held Sat. Jan. 4, 2025 from 2pm until 4pm at Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 E Grant Hwy, Marengo, IL, with a Funeral Service to immediately follow. After the service, the family invites you to join them for a meal at Trio Grille at 101 Franks Rd., Marengo, IL
