Charles Wingard Obituary
Charles E. "Chuck" Wingard, age 78, of Gary, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at Methodist Hospital, Southlake Campus in Merrillville. Chuck was a Gary resident for 44 years and was a U.S. Army Veteran during the Korean War. He retired from Inland Steel in East Chicago with 40 years of service and was a member of American Legion Post #701. Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Christina; five children: Teresa (Scott) Harness of Crown Point, Bryan Wingard (Vickey Richardson), and Janiece Wingard (Larry Gore), all of Hobart, Danny Wingard of Gary, and Dennis Wingard of Lake Station; grandchildren: Brittany Lamphear, Annette (Keith) McIndoo, Jason (Sarah) Harness, Tabatha (Chris) Charleston; Skylar and Savannah Wingard; Alexis Wingard, Justin Cox and Daniel Cooper; nine great grandchildren; sister, Juanita (Bill) Strong; and brother-in-law, Vernon James. His daughter, Sally Ann Lamphear; and two sisters: Ruthanna James and Rita Tate, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 29, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart with Rev. Gary S. Nagy officiating. Burial will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville. Visitation will be Thursday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, (219) 942-2109 or online at: www.ReesFuneralHomes.com

We am so sorry for the everyone's loss. I will always remember how much fun Chuck could be and how he loved ghost stories. He especially loved scaring all of us as children. He could be a true softy at times but liked playing tough. He will not be forgotten.
