My family and I live across the street from Gary. We met him a few years ago. What a great person. Always had a smile on his face. He will be missed.

We are so sorry to read about the passing of Gary. We too have known him for many a year. He could really play a mean game of volleyball. We remember years ago he had a silver Jaguar with blue interior that he loved. Our memories could go on but our brother Will - will be waiting for him to go on another journey together. God's blessings to Gary and his family.

Although I haven't seen Gary for many years, I remember him well. He was a good friend to all who knew and worked with him in the Environmental Dept. at US Steel. Gary always had a smile and a nice thing to say. We'll miss him.

Most sincere sympathies to the family. I met Gary years ago when we worked with the Junior Achievers Program for USS Gary Works. I admired his dedication to the program. He will be missed by us all.

I met Gary back in 1973 at Indiana State University. We've been friends ever since. What can one say about this man. One great human being. He was a giving person. He would always make you smile when the chips were down. His untimely passing has left a void in my heart --- but all those memories we shared and there are too many to mention will always be cherished. I sincerely hope you are having the last laugh with Will at this time. Sunny days and open roads to you my friend. You were like the brother I never had!
Say hello to Dale Sr. for me too. God bless.

I only had the opportunity to meet Gary Hammar on a couple short occassions, but long enough to know he was a truly honest and good hearted person..the type of person that is a credit to our society, the type of person that anyone would treasure as a friend, husband, son, or brother. I am truly saddened to hear of his sudden passing and my heartfelt condolences go out to his entire family and all his friends.
My deepest sympathies go out to his wife and my friend Janet as I can not begin imagine the place you are in right now. Dearie just know you can contact me anytime for anything you ever need.
