Ingrid Anderson Obituary

Ingrid Anderson

Apr 14, 1935 - May 25, 2025

Ingrid Anderson, 90 of Valparaiso, peacefully passed away Sunday, May 25, 2025, at the home of her daughter, Carol. She was born April 14, 1935, in Hamburg, Germany to Erik and Anna (Wilke) Von Mueller. Ingrid spent the first 15 years of her life in Germany and then arrived in the United States in 1950. Her stepfather, Anastassi Kobyak, was hired by Valparaiso University as a professional cabinetmaker and Trinity Lutheran Church sponsored her family. Living through World War II in Germany shaped a remarkable personality and some incredible stories.

Ingrid worked for 15 years for the dental practice of Dr. LaCount. She enjoyed sewing, sailing, cooking and was savvy with technology. Her family was everything to her. Ingrid enjoyed all her grandchildren, but had a special relationship with her youngest granddaughter, Julie Spaulding, with Down Syndrome, in helping her reach her goals.

On July 1, 1960, Ingrid married Maurice Anderson, who preceded her in death in 2013. She is survived by children: Deborah Anderson Holthouse (Dan) of Lake Placid, FL, Susan Ruge Engles (Rick) of Crownsville, MD, Dr. John Robert Ruge (Melissa) of Chicago, IL, Julie Anderson Velardo (Dr. Bernie) of Charlotte, NC, Carol Anderson Spaulding (Bob) of Valparaiso, IN; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Ingrid Von Mueller. She was preceded in death by her parents, Erik and Anna Von Mueller; stepfather, Anastassi Kobyak; and brother, Karl Von Mueller.

A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, with a memorial service beginning at 12:00 p.m.

Our parents, Tom and Pat Benton were Ingrid and Maurie´s
best friends for as long as I can remember. So of course that means all of us kids grew up together and going to same high school
My favorite memory of Ingrid was when I was 10 years old- and wanting a dog so bad
At their cookout- Ingrid said to me "Debi, do you want to see the puppies from next door?
They need a good home! "
My dad could not say no to that!
I remember Ingrid and my mom would look at each other and say: I don´t remember us ever having a fight-
And then laugh

My deepest condolences and sympathy to all your family. I worked with Ingrid for 6 or 7 years at Dr. LaCount's office and treasured her friendship beyond measure. My husband, Bruce, and I moved to NW Indiana from Michigan, and your mom became my second mother, trusted friend, and sounding board.
I lost touch with her after I had my children and moved overseas. But I saw her again years later after moving back to Valpo at the VNA , as she was working there, helping out as usual. It was so great to see her again! I remember you, Susan, John, Julie, and Carol...she was always so proud of you all. She left us all so many wonderful memories and stories. She is always in my heart. Much Love and comfort to all your family. Sandi Roth
