John Macielewicz Obituary
John F. Macielewicz, age 88, of Hammond, IN, passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at his residence with his family by his side. He is survived by his four children: Ernest (Melani) Macielewicz, Cynthia (Dan) Bajda, Vincent (Gerilyn) Macielewicz, and John Macielewicz; six grandchildren: Melanie (Eric) Zoliner, Sarah Smith, Daniel (Sarah) Bajda, Brian (Nicole) Bajda, Elizabeth (Jason) Klodnicki, and Vincent (Natalie) Macielewicz; thirteen great-grandchildren with one on the way, and one great-great granddaughter. Preceded in death by his wife, Mary; parents: John and Margaret; brothers: Paul (late Anna) Macielewicz and Joseph (late Alvina) Macielewicz; sisters: Francis (late Rudolph) Wawrzyniak, Stella (late John) Wolendowski, Antoinette (late Felix) Pisecki, and Ann "Honey" (late Paul) Janik. Funeral services Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. at the Anthony & Dziadowicz Funeral Home, 4404 Cameron Avenue, Hammond (2 blocks E. of Hohman, 1 block N. of Gostlin), 10:00 a.m. Mass at St. Casimir Church with Rev. Vladimir Janeczek officiating. Burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City, IL. Visitation on Monday from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. John was a lifelong Hammond resident. He was a retired Hammond Patrol Sgt. with the Hammond Police Department for 21 years, and a member of Hammond FOP #51. John was a former employee of Valley Mold in Chicago. He was a Navy Veteran of WW II serving in the Pacific Theater. The Hammond Mohawks will have services Monday at 6:00 p.m.

WORKED FOR HIM ON THE HPD AT TIMES AND HE WAS ALWAYS LOOKING OUT FOR HIS OFFICERS. HE HAS A GREAT FAMILY WHICH HE LEFT BEHIND AND NOW HE IS WITH THE LORD, HIS GREAT WIFE AND FANTASTIC GRANDSON, AARON. I LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING THEM WHEN I GO HOME........... LOVE AND PRAYERS TO THE ENTIRE FAMILY. JAY

To the entire Macielewicz' family, Kathy and I offer our profound condolences for your loss. John was a super nice guy who I knew because of being a patrol officer on the same department. John was a patrol sergeant who was a gentleman all the time even when it was his job to correct you for mistakes. He always lived by the rule, "do unto others as you would have them do unto you".
