Lonnie Sanders Obituary

LONNIE SANDERS MUNSTER, IN
Lonnie Sanders was born on October 25, 1944 to the parentage of the late Lonnie and Minnie Sanders, Sr., of Inkster, MI. For 17 years, Lonnie served the nation with humility, as a Captain in the United States Air Force. During his time in the military, he served a tour of duty in the Vietnam War. Later settling in the Chicagoland area, Lonnie would choose a lifelong career in hospital administration. He was a dedicated Big Brother volunteer and even became a Foster Parent to needy children. Everyone who knew Lonnie, knew that he was a jazz music enthusiast, enjoyed cheering for the Chicago Bears and Chicago White Sox, and loved his grandchildren. He departed this life on Friday, April 30, 2010. Lonnie leaves to cherish his memories: a loving wife, Gilda Curry Sanders of Munster, IN; three devoted children: Ailene of Torrance, CA, Sean (Alicia) of Washington, DC, and Tiffany of Chicago, IL.; three beautiful grandchildren: Amelia, Ali and Alion; a doting mother-in-law, Ernestine Barnett of Hammond, IN; sister, Charlene Neusom of Atlanta, GA; brother, Oliver Sanders of Columbus, OH; and a host of loving family and friends. A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 6, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave., Munster, IN 46321. (219) 924-3333 www.kishfuneralhome.net
