Phyllis Dene "Foo-Foo" Franzman, age 97, of Hebron, IN, passed away on Friday, April 11, 2025 at Oak Grove Christian Retirement Village in DeMotte, IN.

Phyllis was born August 18, 1927 in Gary, Indiana to Clarence and Ingabee Minniear (nee Brinneman) who preceded her in death. She was a 1945 graduate of Lew Wallace High School and a 1949 Valparaiso University graduate, and a member of Alpha Psi Sorority. On July 5, 1952 she married Russell F. Franzman and they had 1 son, Russell H. "Rusty" Franzman. Both her husband & son preceded her in death along with her only sister Doris M. Andrews & nephew Greg Bayor.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Sue Franzman; grandchildren: Chad (Sarah) Franzman and Kathryn (Dan) Avery; great-grandchildren: Brockton Franzman and Sloan and Sawyer Avery; and nieces: Suzannah Barrie and Ginny Bayor.

Phyllis was a strong woman of faith, a founding member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church, Hebron; reading the Bible daily. She inspired and guided countless students throughout her life as an English & Spanish teacher at Hebron High School, retiring after 37 years. Phyllis was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, an avid reader, crossword puzzle solver, enjoyed watching Jeopardy & the Cubs ball games while discussing the stock market.

Family, friends & others whose lives Foo-Foo touched, may visit with the family on Sunday, April 27, 2025 at Geisen Funeral, Cremation & Reception Centre, 606 E. 113th Ave., Crown Point, IN 46307 from 1:00 pm until the time of the Funeral Service at 3:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Phyllis' name to Hebron Schools Education Foundation where an award will be established and given in her family's name.
