Ruby Reid Obituary

Ruby N. Reid (nee Clements) Cedar Lake / Hammond, IN Ruby N. Reid, age 83, of Cedar Lake, IN, formerly of Hammond, IN, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 4, 2007 at Blue Skies Hospice surrounded by her family. She is survived by two sons: Rodney (Viola) Reid of Griffith, IN and Bobby (Cindy) Reid of Cedar Lake, IN; ten grandchildren: John (Colette) Reid, Sherri (Noble) Clark, Rodney (Rachel) Reid, Jr., Viola Reid, Kimberly (Brad) Rush, Anthony (Megan) Reid, Nicole Reid, Marc (Patty) Schutz, Lori (Michael) Kantor and Bobby Carbone; 19 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Betty (late Frank) Clark and Mary Alice (Dalton) Marrow; numerous nieces, nephews; and special friend and sister-in-law, Billie (Byron) Reid. Preceded in death by her parents: Claude (Alice) Clements; her husband of 45 years, Edward Reid in 1986; daughter, Patricia Carbone in 1991; three brothers: Mack, Wallace and Percy Clements; and three sisters: Mabel, Mattie Claude and Polly. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Ave., Hammond (Hessville), IN with Pastor Stephen Sluder officiating. Burial to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Monday, May 7, 2007 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Ruby was a lifetime resident of the Calumet area. She was a native of Hammond, IN for some 57 years before moving to Cedar Lake, IN. Ruby was retired from Harding Elementary School where she had worked in the cafeteria for many years. She was a former member of Cline Avenue Baptist Church in Highland, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Blue Skies Hospice, 2714-169th Street, Hammond, IN 46323. For further information, call Bocken Funeral Home at (219) 844-1600.
