Shirley Walters-Graham Obituary

Shirley E. Walters-Graham THAYER, IN - Shirley E. Walters-Graham 2-17-36 to 1-28-2018 Thayer, IN formerly of Griffith, IN. A generous and beautiful heart stopped beating as she made her final journey to the green green grass of home where she was greeted by her husband William aka big guy and her great grandson Landon. Mom loved her family more then anything she taught us to laugh and loved telling corny jokes, she loved a good beer her favorite was Stroh's and she loved OPB beer as she called it (other peoples beer) she also made a killer egg nog from scratch that knocked everyone on their butts. She loved Marty Robbins, knew sports like nobody else loved the Indiana Colts, thought Michael Jordan had the prettiest eyes and Johnny Unitis was her hero. She was a mailman in Griffith, IN and Hammond IN. She is survived by her children: Anna and Brian Zylo-Jones, Ernie and Gina Zylo, Michael and Kim Graham, Patrick Graham, Charles and Rachel Graham also 10 grandchildren and two great grandsons, her twin sister Margie Lewis and younger sister Barbara (John) Considine. Preceded in death by her husband William, parents, three siblings and great grandson Landon. Service February 2, 2018 at St. Michaels Church 10:30a.m. followed by Mass at 11:30a.m.

I wish I had known about Shirley's passing. What a hoot she was. I had the great privilege of getting to know her at Aperion in DeMotte. I sat with her as she dined on her favorite peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. My friend Jim and I used to entertain and she would always ask for Danny Boy or a Marty Robbins song. Oh could she tell jokes. I always looked forward to seeing her. I'm very sorry for your loss. Rest in peace dear lady.

I had the pleasure of meeting this beautiful lady . What a sweet soul. The first time I seen her I thought what a fun lady to have as a mother. The stories I have heard, how she loved her family and worked like no other for them. I want to say what a special woman she raised and one of my best friends' Anna. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Soar high beautiful lady never forgotten and forever loved. Until we meet again save me a spot :)
