Christopher Chadbourne Obituary

1942 - 2020
Christopher Douglas Chadbourne, born on Halloween Day 1942, passed away on February 13, 2020 in Massachusetts. Son of Otto and Kathryn, Chris leaves behind his wife Felicia, brother Bruce, and children Nick & Kara, and nieces Lisa, Jenny Rose, Lauren and Carey, along with an extensive list of the most supportive and caring family and friends imaginable.

Chris was a boundless traveler, rule breaker, upholder of family traditions, vivid storyteller and a thoughtful and goofy friend. He loved deeply. He was an inspiringly hard worker and believed in the great joy and satisfaction that come from pursuing your passions. He was the best dad ever, the love of his wife's life, a dear friend to so many, and we all miss him enormously.

As founder of Christopher Chadbourne & Associates, Chris transitioned confidently from architecture and urban planning to museum exhibit design. Notable projects include national museums of the Marine Corps, Infantry, and Mississippi River; State Museum of Louisiana; George Washington at Mount Vernon; National Park Visitor Centers; major exhibits at Smithsonian's NMAH, and U-505 Submarine at Chicago's MSI.

After being diagnosed with Parkinson's in 2008, Chris began to shift his energies back to his original artistic passion: photography. His work was widely admired and his book State Fair was published in 2014. As with his museum work, Chris was a storyteller through his photography (christopher.chadbourne.com). In that same spirit, Chris' life was full of tall tales and adventures - all of which his family looks forward to sharing with friends when a memorial may safely be held.
