DAVID FROMER Obituary

FROMER--David, b. 1924 in Brooklyn, NY, died September 6, in Santa Monica, CA, at home, surrounded by his adoring family; his wife, of 60 years, Shirley, and his daughters Lisa Gelber, Amy Coane, Dori Fromer and Jana Cook. Also left bereft are his grandchildren, Jett and Wylie Gelber, Max and Cassie Coane, Simon and Emma Frank, and Hunter Cook, and his sons-in-laws Barry Gelber, James Coane and Harley Frank. He was a man of peace who fought valiantly in WWII, earning three Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. David enjoyed a lengthy and varied business career in Los Angeles, London, Saudi Arabia, New York, and New Jersey. He was particularly proud of his role as co-creator of the redevelopment of the Harborside Financial Center in Jersey City. However, he will be remembered most for his generosity, his gentleness, his wit and willingness to embrace every new idea. He mentored many, and saw the good in everyone he met. Life is less without him. There will be a memorial in NYC on Sunday, September 19th.

David, David, David, how I will miss you. Your sense of place as a father, businessman and friend was superb. together with your inimitable humor. You led a remarkable life which ended the way of all our species, but wow, did you pack a lot into yours. Always, Helena x
