Edmund Blake Obituary

BLAKE--Edmund J. Jr., husband of Carol Blake died January 20, 2011. He was a loyal friend to everyone that had the fortune of knowing him. Edmund was born 1928 Medford, MA. He graduated from Boston Latin School, Harvard College and Harvard Business School class of 1953. He was an active competitive sailor 210 Class in Marblehead. Edmund's first job was assistant to Peter Grace. He then became treasurer of Philip Morris, and a partner in venture capital with Louis Marks and Dan Lufkin. For the last 20 years Edmund was with Pinnacle Associates as an investment manager and economist. He was a Chartered Financial Analyst and sat on the board of examiners. He was president and active supporter of Madison Square Boys and Girls Club. Edmund was also a board member of the American Liver Foundation, Sacred Heart at 91st Street and New York Academy of Sciences. While he was a successful investor in finance, his greatest investments were in friendships that he fostered throughout the years. He will truly be missed. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Madison Square Boys and Girls Club. Funeral Mass will be held 10:30am on Monday January 24th at Blessed Sacrament Church, 152 West 71st Street, New York, NY.

I was greaatly saddened to hear today that Ed had died. I first met Ed at the invitation of George Jamieson and learned of his extraordinary long standing support for the Amercan Liver Foundation which continued up to his death. In recent years I also greatly enjoyed his perspectives on the world economy through his inciteful seasonal commentaries from Pinacle Associates. He will be greatly missed by the many people he touched and long remembered for his many talents and support.. Jim Boyer (New Haven)

I had the pleasure of joining Ed for a lunch to discuss our livers, our love of family and our interest in the American Liver Foundation. He was as plain and yet sophisticaed as they come. He will both be remembered and missed.

We deeply saddened to learn of Edmund's death. He was a long time friend to our aunt, Terry O'Brien, and she was comforted by Edmund's close involvement in her affairs. Edmund will be missed and we extend our sympathy to his family.
