FRANKLIN SAUL Obituary

SAUL--Franklin Robert. Franklin Robert Saul, 81, passed away Monday November 21, 2011, at 10:25am. Franklin was born in Belleville, New Jersey and resided in Essex Fells, New Jersey. Franklin graduated class of 1947 at Montclair High School and graduated class of 1951 from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. He served in the United States Army as a Lieutenant in the Korean War. Franklin married his sweetheart, Elayne December 10, 1954. Franklin was a Vice President at City Bank. He worked at Leaman Brothers and F.S. Smithers. He served as Assistant Secretary of The Treasury, Debt Management, for The United States of America under President Lyndon Johnson. Franklin ended his lifelong financial career as The President of The Emigrant Savings Banks of New York. He retired in 1985 and moved to Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Franklin volunteered as Treasurer for the Children's Aid Society of New York for 25 years. He was very committed to this organization and was very happy to be a part of this greater good. Franklin was a member of The Essex Fells Country Club in New Jersey, a member of The Union League Club in New York City, and a member of The Ponte Vedra Inn and Club in Florida. He was a member of St. Peters Episcopal Church in Essex Fells in New Jersey and a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Franklin is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Elayne; his son Franklin Robert Saul, Jr.; his daughter Marilyn Elyane Evanson; and his grandchildren, April Leigh Saul, Alexis Elayne Evanson and Maximilian Franklin Evanson; daughter-in-law Kay A. Saul; and son-in-law Eric S. Evanson. A private memorial service was held in Christ Episcopal Church of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Children's Aid Society, 105 E. 22nd Street, Room 504, NY, NY 10010. Services by Quinn-Shalz, A Family Funeral Home, Jacksonville Beach, FL. I worked for Frank for a number of years at Citi and then at Lehman. I was saddened to read of his death. My prayers go out to him and his family.
