To all of the Tobin family:
You have my deepest sympathies. Gary was like a brother to me growing up, and we shared a special bond. I'm so pleased we exchanged e-mails late last year after I came upon his book In Every Tongue. Hopefully the wonderful memories we all share from knowing Gary will sustain us through this difficult time.
All our love,
Randy and Joan Covitz

Dear Diane, Adam, Amy, Sarah, Aryeh, Mia and Jonah,
All of us (Dov, Cathy, Anna, and Ziva) sent you our heartfelt sympathy on this great loss. We wish you a long life. We loved and admired Gary as a friend, a husband, father, and community leader. What a loss to you, to us, and to the world. A piece of him will live on in us. We are thinking of you.
Lots of love to all of you.
From Dov, Cathy, Anna, and Ziva.

Dear Diane, Adam Amy, Sarah, Aryeh and Mia:
Nancy and I were shocked to learn of Gary's passing. He was a truly extraordinary person. We look back with love and affection at the life cycle and holiday gatherings we shared, and regret that the move to California made our encounters all too infrequent. Our family sends heartfelt condolences on your (the whole community's) loss and celebrates a wonderful soul who made a very big and positive difference. May; his memory be for a blessing.

Deepest sympathies. Gary was a teacher, mentor, colleague and friend whose passion and commitment to Jewish life and community guided us all.
