HOWARD MAISEL Obituary

MAISEL--Howard M. Of New York and Sag Harbor, born June 11, 1931, passed peacefully from this world on May 8, 2014, at his home in Manhattan. He had battled pancreatic cancer for nearly a year. He leaves behind his wife Eve France, his children Miriam Maisel, David Maisel and Jennifer Maisel, his brother Jay Maisel, his granddaughters Jessie Fontana-Maisel and Julia Maisel-Berick, and his daughter-in-law Lynn Fontana and son-in-law Michael Berick. In addition, he leaves behind his step-children Kim France, Michael and Shirim France, Todd and Shanna France, and grandchildren Eli, Henry, and Abe, and many nephews, nieces and dear friends who hold him in their hearts. He joins in death his first wife, Joan Epstein Maisel, and his parents Milton Maisel and Rose Schiffman Maisel. A graduate of Cornell University, Howard became President of Columbia Cement Incorporated; he was an executive for British Petroleum in London. He also served on the boards of Temple Adas Israel and Children's Rights. An avid reader and champion of the arts, Howard never stopped learning. A memorial service in celebration of Howard's life will be held Monday, May 12 at noon, at Frank E. Campbell Funeral Chapel, 1076 Madison Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Good Shepherd Services goodshepherds.org and the NPCF pancreaticcancerfoundation. com

So sorry to hear about Howard's passing. He was the most generous and giving person. I remember well years ago the Maisels and Cheslers lived together in Hewlett & Woodmere. My thoughts are with his brother Jay, his wife Eve , his children & grandchildren. He was more like a brother than a cousin .
