The significance of Dr. Glazier's contributions to the genealogical community have been immense. His published work continues as an enduring legacy of permanent value. We all owe him a debt of gratitude. I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to meet and chat with him when he rode the National Archives shuttle bus last year.

Dr. Glazier was an intrinsic help to us genealogists with his indexing of the arrival records of so many immigrants in the primarily pre-Ellis Island era. How appropriate that his service should be in the Battery, so close to Castle Garden. As a a fellow member of the Ellis Island Restoration Commission, I send my personal condolences to the family of this wonderful, gentle man.
