JAMES LEVINE Obituary

LEVINE--James L., 77, on March 9, 2021. Consummate American-born conductor/pianist, and champion of classical music worldwide. Beloved by artists for his tireless dedication and enthusiasm, and by audiences for his unabashed joy in making music. He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Thomson, his sister Janet Levine, and her husband Kenneth Irwin. A not-for-profit trust has been established to support and encourage the continuing classical music culture in America. Memorial donations may be directed to The James L. Levine Charitable Foundation, P.O. Box 3542, New York, NY 10008.

He was one of the greatest conductors of all time, not only for opera but the symphony repertoire as well. He was also an accomplished pianist a well. His concert in 1988 where Jimmy played the piano accompanying Luciano was iconic never to be forgotten. His work with the met for 48 years will be unmatched forever. I hope he rests in peace. He brought joy to music lovers around the world for over 50 years. God bless him.
