JOSEPH SCHWARTZ Obituary

SCHWARTZ--Joseph. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph Schwartz of North Shore Towers and Boca Raton, FL on December 20, 2018 at age 90. Joe was pre-deceased by his wife Rita, the love of his life for 61 years. He is lovingly remembered by his sister-in-law, Norma Shapiro, his children Owen and Laurie, Eric and Robin and Billy, his grandchildren Ariel and Lewis Silberman, Morgan and Austin Curtis, Dean, Jessie, Miles and Mason, his great-grandchildren Violet and Sadie Silberman and Chloe Curtis, and his "girlfriend" Marilyn Cohen. Joe was the proud owner of Montreaux Jewelry Company which he ran for over 40 years with Sheila Papaleo by his side. Montreaux created some of the world's finest jewelry. I knew Joe very well. He was an exceptional and a gem of a person with a great sense of humor. Both my wife Barbara and I will miss his warmth, loving smile and his delightful conversation whenever we had an occasion to meet him at Montreux in New York.

Joe was simply the best boss a girl could have. He was inspiring and always right on the money with his critiques. He was so kind and generous, you wanted to give him your best work. He loved his family and his work deeply and we will all miss his sweet smile and warm words and funny jokes. He was a self made man that made everyone around him look good. I will always feel blessed that he was my boss and friend.

We mourn the passing of our dear, dear friend. Joe was the "go-to guy", whose intelligence and insight were sought out by fellow jewelers, family and friends. He was our confidant; his suggestions and advice were endlessly admired, respected and praised.
Joe was an influential icon of the jewelry industry. His creativity and innovation made the name of his company, Montreaux, synonymous with exceptional, artistic elegance. He was an integral factor in the creation of his jewelry, yet insisted that his entire staff receive the recognition for his success.
Joe was genuinely gracious. He enhanced us with his thoughtfulness, kindness and caring. He put a special sparkle in all of us. He was the best of men - he was the best of friends. We will miss him forever.
