MARIA YOUNG

YOUNG--Maria, passed away on Palm Sunday, April 17, 2011. Maria was the beloved mother of Michael, Kevin, and Ryan, loving daughter of Helen Lombardi and the late Louis Lombardi, caring sister of Joseph Lombardi, sister-in-law to Regina Lombardi, loving Aunt of Katherine and Chloe Lombardi, and devoted friend to those extraordinary people who know who they are. Maria graduated Boston College and received her Masters in Education from NYU. An accomplished Special Education teacher, Maria gave up her teaching career for the greatest love of her life, being mother to Michael, Kevin and Ryan. She understood a parent shows their love by paying attention to the smallest details, and always being there, whether at school or on the Lacrosse field. The consummate mother, Maria raised her sons in Manhasset to be fine young men. Maria asked no less of those she loved, than that they live life to the fullest and be the best they could be. Whether enjoying summer vacations in Montauk with her sons, planning holiday gatherings, traveling to Italy with her close friend Suzanne, or decorating with Nancy, Maria knew how to be in the moment and enjoy life to the fullest. She lived and taught a profound understanding of the importance of Family, Faith, and Friendship, and this is the legacy she gives to her sons, and all of us. She will be loved and remembered always. Maria's Mass will be Monday, April 25th, at 1pm, at St. Mary's Church, at 1300 Northern Boulevard Manhasset, NY 11030.
