Mike was also a member of the Chairman's Council for the All Stars Project which fosters the growth of inner-city youth through performance. As a board member and longtime supporter of Cambodian Living Arts, an NGO that nurtures traditional performing arts and young artists, Mike was recognized by His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni of Cambodia in 2024. Those who knew Mike would recall his intellectual curiosity, sharp wit and zest for life. He was an avid reader, history buff, gourmet cook, Asian art aficionado, Broadway devotee, and landscaping enthusiast. Most of all, he loved sharing his interests with family and friends. Mike is survived by his wife, Maykin, and other close family members in Houston, New York, California and Hong Kong. Michael and I met as grade school buddies. We became close friends through high school. He was incredible as Oscar Madison in our high school drama performance of the Odd Couple. lol. We reconnected with Mike and Maykin about 8 years ago. Mike was the same witty, kind and bright guy as always and it was so nice to have them in my life once again. Rest in Peace my friend.

In the tapestry of existence, there are lives that shine so brightly they leave an indelible mark, even as they pass on. Michael Dean was one such life-pure and unforgettable.

As a leader, a mentor, and a friend, his presence lit up every room and every moment. His life was a testament to unwavering strength, boundless compassion, and a spirit that lifted all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though his journey in this world has concluded, Michael's impact remains steadfast, resonating through the lives he touched, the affection he shared, and the legacy he built.

As board `s President, Michael exemplified true leadership in its finest form. He approached challenges not as obstacles, but as opportunities to create meaningful solutions that united and inspired everyone around him. Whether resolving intricate board matters or fostering collaboration among colleagues, Michael's wisdom, integrity, and unrelenting determination set him apart. His ability to transform complexity into clarity and infuse purpose into every endeavor will continue to guide and motivate us.

Beyond his professional brilliance, Michael was a cherished friend whose loyalty and kindness were as steady as they were profound. To me, he was not just a guide but a source of unwavering strength and inspiration-a bond built on trust, shared laughs, and moments of quiet reflection.

Let us not dwell solely on the sorrow of Michael's departure but instead celebrate the profound beauty of a life so exceptionally well-lived. May his memory forever be a guiding star, reminding us to lead with wisdom, devote selflessly, and strive to be better in his honor. For Michael Dean, though no longer with us in form, will forever remain a shining light in our hearts.
