NANCY MCCARTNEY Obituary
Adored by her husband of 55 years, Laton, and sons Patrick and Michael, Nancy McCartney, 76, passed away on April 5. Nancy was born and reared New York City where she attended Finch College and later worked as a fashion model and ran programs for the American Museum of Natural History and The New York Society Library. She also worked with abused and battered women. Her radiant smile, warm and generous nature and love of life won her friends and admirers wherever she went. Contributions can be made to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association at: www.PHAssociation.org

I met Nancy and Laton while working at a neighborhood Italian restaurant (Bella Luna in the UWS) They were regulars there and from the first time meeting them, we had a genuine connection. Weeks after, I was lucky enough to hear the story of their love, from the beginning when Laton was in Yale. It was such a beautiful and inspiring story that really gave me hope, and made me remember numerous times after, till this day. To me Nancy was one of the most gentile souls, and it was so apparent that the two still loved each other after all these years. She will be missed, for sure, but doubtlessly she will be in a beautiful place. I am very happy to have met her. My condolences to her friends and family. May patience and strength be with you.

I met Nancy at Cafe Wyoming in Dubois, and though our interactions were brief, she left a permanent impression on my heart. What a genuine, kind and generous woman. Sorry to hear of her passing. I will carry thoughts of her with me always.
