My parents commissioned Raymond to do a portrait of me when I was 2 years old. He must have been 22 at the time, in Honolulu HI. We emailed 5 years ago and he remembered me. I'm sure he's making the angels very happy now and that they welcomed him with open arms.

Ray was a first-class artist and my hero. I treasure having known him. His work was a gift to all of us.

Ray was one of the classiest, most dignified members of the Society of Illustrators during my 34 years there. There was never a boast about his connection to illustration royalty in Wilmington. And he had a sincere laugh and smile. That I will always remember.

To the Olivere Family: My heartfelt sympathies go out to the family and friends during this difficult time. I hope that the promise in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 can bring comfort. Knowing that there's a hope for the ones we have lost in death can be so reassuring.
