Richard was a great guy, and I still miss him both as a friend and as my go to guy for title. I used to joke that the definition of marketable title was title Richard Hausman approves. I still feel his loss and hope his family is doing ok.

One year later, Richard is still in our hearts and in our thoughts. Peace and love,

I second what Mr. Hausman said about his son on the 1 year anniversary of his passing. I was a high school chum of Richie's and it was impossible not to like him. Richie was so kind and thoughtful. I remember a trip to the Saratoga jazz festival. Richie insanely brought his girlfriend to camp out with a group of his male friends. It was evening time, we built a camp fire, and we were typically loud and boisterous. Richie slithered out of his tent and begged us to quiet down so his girlfriend could sleep. That took a great deal of guts. And we weren't very receptive. That's the kind of guy he was, though. So sweet.

On May 1, 2008 my son Richard Hausman was 48 years old. Four days later at 2AM on May 5 he lost his valiant, almost two year battle, to cancer and I lost my hero.
Will Rogers was quoted as saying he never met a person he didn't like. Well, Richard never met a person who didn't like him.

Richard was the baby cousin of the Rosenberg/Hausman Family. Growing up we spent every holiday together and looked forward to our bi-monthly cousins club gatherings. We kept this up for many years, until most went off to college and or moved away. Looking back, I remember how mature and appropriate Richard was even as a child. His humor, kindness, patience and intelligence were the ultimate package. He is in our hearts forever, and our warmest thoughts are with Gene, Margie, Wendi, Dion, Debbie, Rebecca and Matthew.
Our love, Vicki, Milt and Zach

I’ve worked with Richard Hausman.

There are some people in the world who are so kind, generous, honorable, intelligent and genuinely decent that it would be impossible to not like them. He was one those rare kind of people.

We’d all be lucky to have met one Richard Hausman in our lifetimes.

My heartfelt sympathies go out to his family

I only knew Richard as a child, but I can still see his kind and sweet face smiling up at me.The descriptions of Richard as an adult truely fit my memories of him when he was so young. I am heartbroken for his parents and sisters whom I love, and for Debra, Rebecca and Matthew. My deepest sympathies.

I have known Richard for a number of years, first as a competitor, and then as a colleague at First American. I always appreciated Richard's wealth of knowledge, but what always most impressed me was his willingness to share that knowledge with other attorneys at the company. Richard would frequently remind me that he would present at meetings of First American's Board of Counsel whenever I needed a speaker, and when he spoke at those meetings everyone paid close attention, knowing that they were the beneficiaries of knowledge being imparted by a true professional. Richard also had the kind of demeanor, always looking at the sunny side, always optimistic that the problem would be resolved, that made it a pleasure to work with him. He is missed very much. My condolences to Richard's family.

When you encounter a person whose spirit is so unmistakably kind and whose character is so honorable, that person can’t help but leave an indelible mark upon both your heart and your mind. Richard was indeed that person. Thank you, Richard, for just being you…an honest, caring, intelligent man, whose spirit can only inspire the rest of us. It was my honor and pleasure to have worked with you. My deepest condolences to Debbie, Rebecca and Matthew.

I knew Richie for many years. Back to the days of Lex Terrae. What a wonderful person! He was truly like a breath of fresh air. No matter what you brought to Richie he was able to pull the silver lining out it, and maintain his cool composure throughout the whole ordeal. What a wonderful quality and I admired him so for it. How lucky I feel to have met Richie and to say he was a friend of mine. I only wish he was able to spend more time here on earth with us. This world needs more people like Richard in it. I will truly miss him and his "Hey, how you doing?" he would give you. May we all find comfort in knowing Richie has gone to a better place and will be there to greet us with his warm and loving demeanor. You're in my prayers and I will never forget you buddy. Peace be with you.

During our formative years, I had the pleasure of spending many wonderful hours with Richie, listening to music, going to concerts, skiing, camping and most importantly laughing. Though we hadn't spent much time together in recent years, I remember him as a super nice guy. Non judgemental, sweet, soft spoken. He didn't deserve this. To his wife and children; you were so fortunate to have this wonderful human being in your lives.
