SAMANTHA MYERS Obituary

MYERS--Samantha Ginsburg. Samantha Ginsburg Myers, 33, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2022, from cardiac arrest. Sam was an activist on behalf of those with Familial Dysautonomia (FD), her rare Jewish degenerative genetic condition. Determined to tell her story to the world, at age 10 she asked Make-A-Wish to help her reach others through Nick News for kids. She continued advocacy, raising awareness and funds for FD research and care provided by the NYU Dysautonomia Treatment Center, where devoted doctors and nurses gave her the best life possible. A graduate of Mary MacDowell Friends' School and Winston Prep, she helped launch JCC Connections, and Cooke Transitions, an innovative transition program for young adults with learning differences. She worked part-time at the Lower East Side Girls' Club, loved her singing lessons with Daniel's Music Foundation and ASL classes, travel, and extended family vacations in Maine. Known as a quirky collector, Sam touched many people with her infectious smile, enthusiasm, kindness, love, optimism and joy, and courage in the face of FD's challenges. She is missed by her wide- ranging and supportive "Sam's Club" including: her parents, anthropologists Fred Myers and Faye Ginsburg, her aunts Deborah Szajnberg and Judith Meyer (Harold), cousins Sonia Sundelson (Eli) and their daughter Ruby, Lily Szajnberg-Martinez (Nicole) and their children Charles and Margaux, Daniel Meyer, Joshua Meyer (Michal) and their children Liora, Natan, and Ariel, Steven Meyer, Kim Olin, Sean Olin (Robin), Brett Olin, and Brooke Olin; her close friends Natan Vega Potler, Amanda Gross, Perry Goldberger, Keshi Taryan- Kigel and others; her current support team Michelle Schwab, Wen Ling, Michele Zaccario, and many more over the years, all lifetime members of "Sam's Club." Sam left this world the way she lived in it, joyfully singing one of her favorite songs. Dear Faye & Fred, so sorry for your loss, losing Sam - although I've not seen Sam for a long time, when we met it was clear that she was a brilliant personality and a force of nature, exuberant and deep. She touched so many in her time here on earth. Sending love and condolences. Susan
