STEPHEN FRAZIER

FRAZIER--Stephen M. Stephen M. Frazier, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and community member, died in his home in Atlanta, Georgia on October 8, 2024, after a courageous battle against heart disease. Stephen was a natural storyteller with a keen wit and magnetic warmth. An award-winning broadcast journalist who reported from 55 countries, Stephen spent 12 years at NBC News as a network correspondent and anchor. He frequently anchored NBC Nightly News and NBC News at Sunrise and served as the substitute host for Today. While at NBC, he was assigned to five bureaus, including Tokyo, London, and Rome. He then moved to CNN in Atlanta, anchoring CNN/U.S., CNN NewsStand, CNN & Fortune, CNN Headline News, and CNN International. As senior correspondent for CNN Presents, he won an Emmy, a CableACE Award, and a National Headliner Award. Born in Boston, Massachusetts in June 1952 to Donald Frazier and Sarah Devlin Frazier, he spent his childhood years in Rhode Island and was drawn to all things nautical. A lifelong athlete, he also loved cycling, squash, and tennis. Stephen earned a bachelor's degree in English from Williams College. He was an omnivorous reader, music fan, and film lover and therefore an enthusiastic conversationalist and formidable trivia competitor. A thoughtful and committed friend and devoted husband and father, the most important part of Stephen's life was his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Cynthia; his children Matthew (Stacy), Elizabeth Anne Donnell (Cotter), and Andrew; and grandchildren William, Miles, Frances, and James. Stephen is also survived by his siblings, Donna and Richard, and seven nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 13, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:00pm at H.M.
