I remember when I was a kid and growing up in PR her and my mom talking over the phone for hours. That definitely is a talent of the Perez family.
I remember asking my mom to let me say hi to her and how sweet her voice sounded.
Titi Yolie spent some vacation time with us and was a person many of her nieces and nephews looked up to. All I wanted to do as a child was to imitate her.
When I moved to NYC for residency, she was my family connection. And I made sure I dressed well and had make up on whenever I visited her.
She made me aware of fashion. She also gave me support when I was homesick. She was the only person that cared for me when I had to have surgery at Mt. Sinai Hospital in 2003.
I will always appreciate those moments and will remember her kindness.
Rest in peace titi Yolie

She showed me distance is not felt when you love someone. As a child used to write letters and share experiences. As a child looked at her as the person to be when I grow up - she was funny, intelligent, beautiful and sexy. Told me how important was to take care of body and soul. She was so caring of others. And yes, we all laughed as she would fall asleep in the couch easily. Will miss our chats. Love you Titi Yoly

Yolanda was the "cool" Aunt who showed me the city during my teenage years, opening my eyes to the art of haggling with the shop owners on Canal Street and talking about yoga and crystals and alternative medicine. She always bought me and my brother clothes like sweaters and shirts for Christmas - and stay for a while, falling asleep on the couch. We'd listen to music and best of all, she always had Juicy Fruit gum for us! I will miss he free spirted nature. Love you TiTi Yoli!
