MARGARET OLESON Obituary

MARGARET SLOAN MEG OLESON Our beloved sister, Margaret Sloan "Meg" Oleson, passed away on June 21, 2013 in Auburn Alabama from medical complications. Meg was the devoted daughter of the late Isabella Marshall Oleson and Dr. Dunlap Wrisley Oleson also of Auburn Alabama, who predeceased her in death. Meg was a proud active member of the DAR, loved to travel, played the Dulcimer, quilted, took time caring for and visiting the elderly along with her dog Auburn. She loved pets, the environment, and attending Auburn's football games and tailgate parties. She was a graduate of the class of 88 from Auburn High School and graduated with a BS degree from Samford University in '95 where she was a member of Alpha Kappa Psi, Pi Gamma Mu honor society, and the Gama Sigma Service Sorority. She was also a member of the Greater Auburn Kiwanis Club, Historical Association of Lee County, Auburn Women's club and Musical club, and active member of Auburn United Methodist Church. Meg Oleson is also survived by her brother Richard Grant Gilmore, Jr. and his wife, Marilyn Gilmore and brother J. Marshall Gilmore and his wife Deborah J. Gilmore and sister Holley Oleson Watcki and brother Wrisley B. Oleson . Meg is also survived by her nieces and nephews who loved her dearly: Randy Gilmore and Grant Gilmore II, Matthew Gilmore and Lauren Gilmore, and Megan Watcki. She is also survived by her dear beloved friend and nanny Mrs. Hattie Mae Fitzpatrick of Notasulga, AL. Meg would also want it mentioned that she is survived by her two newly-adopted sisters, Sarah and Allison Gilmore. Last but not least, Meg is also survived by her sweet cocker spaniel dog, Auburn, who many will remember her walking in Kiesel Park and Town Creek Park. Meg's sweet hugs, big smile, and vivacious caring love will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her. A memorial service will be held at Auburn United Methodist Church Founders Chapel on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at 4PM. In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the Lee County Humane Society. www.jeffcoattrant.com

To the Oleson Family:

Please accept our sincere condolences. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. We remember Meg fondly, as she always had a warm bright smile and big hug and a heart of gold. She touched many lives, including mine. She was a dear friend and the sweetest person and she will be fondly remembered by everyone who knew her.

She was greatly missed by all of our high school classmates last weekend for our 25th high school reunion. You were a blessing to everyone who knew you and whose lives you touched.

I will miss seeing your sweet beautiful smile and getting a warm hug from you. I am so blessed and thankful to have known you through all of the years and even becoming even closer friends after high school. Your friendship and love may be gone, but not forgotten. I will miss you and your sweet gentle spirit and friendship dearly. I will forever in my heart cherish our friendship and the fond memories that I have of you.

I know that you are rejoicing in heaven now with your mom and dad. May you rest in peace. Know that you were loved by all of us.

We Love and Miss You, Meg.

To the Oleson family, you are in my prayers and thoughts. I liked being around Meg because she was sweet and kind and carried out very logical conversations. We were in Student Outreach for Christ (SOC) after school and she was so godly. I never saw her mad or upset, she always had a smile on her face. The Auburn community has lost a good woman and her works will not go unnoticed. Oleson family stay strong and trust in the Lord for courage, wisdom, and love in this time of need. Meg is in heaven looking down on you and is proud of each one of you. Her obituary was written so beautifully and each time I read it, it makes me laugh and cry.

Heartbroken learning of Meg's passing! Have known her for a million years, and appreciated and was envious of how much she loved and was loved by her parents. When we were growing up in Willow Creek Subdivision, she had a dog named Trooper Sam. He ALWAYS played baseball/softball with all of the kids in the neighborhood and although he never batted, he was ALWAYS on defense! He would grab/catch every ball that was hit, and chase the runner trying to get to base! He probably made more “outs” than any human. We would all laugh! Meg was such a sweet, sweet, soul from the day she was born. I was blessed to have her in my life! She hugged me every time we met! I will hold those hugs to my heart forever. I will get more one day!
