Addie McEntyre Obituary

GRANBURY - Addie Daphine McEntyre was born in Odessa, Texas on October 28, 1928 to Clarence H and Bertie Rowe Stevenson. She passed away on July 31, 2022.

She graduated from Odessa High School in 1946. She married Henry F McEntyre in 1948 in Odessa and together they raised two daughters while running the family business, McEntyre Brothers.

Upon retirement in the mid-1980's, Daphine and Henry moved to Meadowlakes, Texas. At that time Daphine took up golf and fell in love with the game. She and Henry played as much as possible and organized events for their many friends. They enjoyed golf trips for a number of years.

Daphine's first love was her family, followed by golfing, cooking and playing bridge - not necessarily in that order. She taught her daughters and granddaughter how to cook the favorite family meals and desserts. As an avid bridge player, she played as often as possible. When they were unable to play in person, her friends found an online game so they could continue what they all loved so much.

Daphine was enthralled with working Sudoku puzzles. It was her goal to get the trophy each month for completing one per day. She kept her mind very active playing word games, in addition to bridge, which we attribute her long life.

In April 2021, Daphine moved to Granbury, Texas to be closer to her daughter, Connie and resided at The Oaks of Granbury. She continued playing online bridge as often as possible.

Daphine was a remarkable wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved to entertain in the home, which happened a lot whether planned or spontaneous.

Daphine was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Norman Stevenson and his wife Lela Stevenson, and her beloved husband of 62 years.

She is survived by daughters Connie Nichols of Granbury, Susan McEntyre of Canton, GA, granddaughter Elise Nichols of Dallas, and nieces, Debbie Lucas of Edmond, OK, Denise Oxford of Anderson, SC, Barbara Pope of Frisco, and Amy Mitchell of Dallas.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests you make a donation in Daphine's name to your favorite charity.

There will be an interment service for she and Henry in Marble Falls, TX at a date to be determined.

The family wishes to thank the staff of The Oaks of Granbury for their care these last 15 months. Additionally, the staff of Interim Hospice and Visiting Angels attended to her for the last few days of her life on earth.
